2010 Census Calendar

Most households should have received their 2010 Census questionnaire the week of March 15. Also, you should have received a reminder post card the week on March 22.

March 29 – 31:  Serviced Based Enumeration (SBE) takes place.  Census takers conduct the census enumeration of people who do not have a home at service-based locations (e.g., homeless shelters, soup kitchens, etc.)

April 1 – 10:  Replacement Questionnaires will be mailed out or mailed back to some households to increase response rates.

April – May:  Enumeration of group quarters will occur.  Group Quarters are places where people live or stay in group living arrangements that are owned or managed by an entity or organization (such as colleges and nursing homes) providing housing and/or services for the residents.

May 1 – July 10:  Households that didn’t return their questionnaire will be visited by an enumerator, who will conduct the census at the door.

You can track your community’s progress!

The Census Bureau launched an interactive map application that will give daily 2010 Census participation rate updates from March 22 to May 3.  The map currently shows 2000 Census participation rates.  The "Participation rate" is the percent of forms mailed back by households that received them.  Visit http://2010.census.gov/2010census/take10map/ to track your communities.

On Friday, March 26 the mail-in response rates were:

  • Normal 34%
  • Bloomington 37%
  • McLean County 37%
  • Illinois 32%
  • National 29%
