Jason Barickman was elected to the Illinois State Senate on November 6, 2012, and represents the 53rd Legislative District. Previously, he served in the Illinois House of Representatives since 2011.
Barickman was born May 1, 1975, in Streator, Illinois. He was raised on a family farm in Livingston County near Ancona, and graduated from Woodland High School. Barickman is a veteran, having served in the Illinois Army National Guard as an infantry soldier.
Barickman attended Illinois State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. While at ISU, he was elected Student Body President. After graduation, Jason worked as a business consultant, primarily within the telecommunication and technology industries.
Barickman left his job and enrolled at the University of Illinois College of Law. Currently, he is an attorney at the law offices of Meyer Capel, P.C., where his practice focuses on real estate and business law. Senator Barickman is also an Adjunct Faculty member at Illinois State University in Normal.
In 2012, Barickman was selected to participate in the inaugural class of the 2012 Edgar Fellows Leadership Program.
Jason and his wife, Kristin, live in Bloomington and have two sons.
