LOCAL LIVESTOCK SUPPORTERS ANNOUNCE PREMIUM SALE AT 2015 MCLEAN COUNTY FAIR
Normal, IL - A group of motivated friends of McLean County youth livestock programs, 4-H and the McLean County Fair are pleased to announce a new premium sale to benefit youth livestock participants at the 2015 McLean County Fair.
The MY AG (McLean County Youth Animal Agriculture Group) will host this premium livestock sale on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the McLean County Fairgrounds during the McLean County Fair. The buyer’s luncheon will start at 11:30 a.m. with the sale scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
The MY AG program was designed to support youth livestock projects. Each livestock exhibitor showing a market beef, market goat, market sheep, market swine or a dairy project will have the opportunity to sell one animal in this year’s premium sale. Marty Ropp, representative of the MY AG group says, “Our commitment to this effort is for the sale to support more than 100 youth from families representing nearly every community across McLean County and to add an exciting new activity to help encourage greater community involvement at the fair.”
Livestock projects are among some of the highest commitment projects in terms of time, dollars and family commitment in the lineup of 4H projects. Ropp adds, “Youth participants in these high commitment livestock projects have a tremendous opportunity to learn and grow in their understanding of many disciplines and in their appreciation of agriculture.”
Studies show that no matter what career a youth chooses to pursue, those who have participated in these high commitment livestock projects remain tremendous ambassadors into adulthood because of these types of positive development experiences. Ropp encourages, “This is our opportunity as a community to ensure support for the development of these young exhibitors while ultimately promoting the future of the Agricultural Industry in McLean County.”
