Bloomington, IL - In recent years, citizens and businesses have provided the Bloomington Police Department security camera video footage that has helped solve numerous street crimes, shootings, robberies, burglaries and fatal vehicle accidents. We believe that working with the community to expand the use of existing technologies will assist in increasing public safety in Bloomington.
Today, the Bloomington Police Department is launching a private security camera registration program. This program is designed to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between the Bloomington Police Department and the residents and businesses of the City of Bloomington.
We have created a simple website where citizens and business owners can register their external security camera locations, details and include their contact information. If a serious crime is committed in the view of a privately owned security camera, Bloomington Police Department will search the registration data for nearby cameras and contact the owner with a request for camera footage.

If you would prefer to fill out a form and deliver it to us, the registration form can be printed from the registration website and mailed to the Bloomington Police Department, 305 S. East St, Bloomington, IL., Attn: CIAU or dropped off at the station Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
As part of this program, at no time will the Bloomington Police Department have direct access to your camera or camera system.
