DESTIHL Brewery Expands Distribution to Oklahoma

DESTIHL beers being imported this month by Craft & Barrel for sale throughout Oklahoma

May 12, 2016 - DESTIHL® Brewery, of Bloomington, Illinois, officially announced today that it has commenced distribution of its beers into the State of Oklahoma.

In February, DESTIHL announced plans to build a new $14 million production facility this year in Normal, Illinois.  DESTIHL breaks ground on that facility in a few weeks.  “Building the new production brewery is enabling us to move forward again with our expansion into new, exciting markets like Oklahoma”, said DESTIHL’s Founder, Brewmaster and CEO, Matt Potts.  “We are ecstatic about this opportunity for DESTIHL beers to be available in this great state while working alongside such an awesome importing partner, Craft & Barrel, whose CEO, Freddy Lamport, is truly the pioneer of craft beer in that state.  Freddy has demonstrated an intense excitement and passion for our brewery’s wide array of unique beers, and we cannot wait to get to work with him and his team.”

“We are more than thrilled to be one of the newest markets that DESTIHL has graced with its presence”, said Freddy Lamport.  “They are one of the first breweries to come to Oklahoma that specializes in sour beers!  It is going to be a very exciting ride as we watch these beers lead the way in this segment, and Craft & Barrel is so happy to be able to facilitate that!”

In a few short years, DESTIHL has earned multiple awards, including Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) medals and Best of Show at the 2015 National Wood-Aged Beer Competition held at the Festival of Barrel Aged Beers (FoBAB) in Chicago for its Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout (aged in bourbon barrels).  DESTIHL’s sour program began several years ago in 2008 with its barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales, which have also won several awards, and it was that brand that originally got the brewery noticed nationally back in 2011 at GABF.  However, the brewery’s notoriety rose in late 2014 to a whole new level with its trend-setting release of its Wild Sour Series in 4-packs of 12 oz. cans.  This Series is a line of bold kettle sours DESTIHL produces with its own wild mixed-culture which is indigenous to the central Illinois brewery.  Beers from both the Saint Dekkera line and the Wild Sour Series (including cans of Here Gose Nothin’®, Flanders Red and Counter ClockWeisse®) are hitting Oklahoma this week along with its core year-round offerings such as Weissenheimer® Hefeweizen and Abbey’s Single®.

DESTIHL opened its first gastrobrewpubTM (DESTIHL Restaurant & Brew Works) in Normal, Illinois, in November 2007 and added its second gastrobrewpub in downtown Champaign, Illinois, in April 2011, where the company focuses on both artisan food and beers.  The company’s 20,000sf production brewery in Bloomington, IL commenced operations on May 31, 2013, but the brewery will be moving into a new 47,000 production facility, taproom and beer hall early next year.  DESTIHL Brewery combines centuries-old, global brewing traditions and new American craft brewing ingenuity & artisanship to produce a wide array of beers for every palate.  The result is a diverse offering of intensely flavorful beers that are anything but bland.  The brewery currently distributes its beers in Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Louisiana, Ohio, Florida, Washington State, Pennsylvania, North Carolina (also launching this month) and Nebraska.
