2021 ATHENA Leadership Award®
Each year at the Leaders of Distinction awards, we confer the ATHENA Leadership Award® to an individual who has championed and lifted women in our community into leadership roles.
ATHENA International seeks to develop, support, and honor girls and women from the classroom to the boardroom, building a global pipeline of women leaders. ATHENA’s vision is to bring balance to leadership voices worldwide by cultivating women leaders. This vision is realized through the ATHENA Leadership Model, which identifies eight distinct attributes central to building successful leaders in today’s extraordinary times of pandemic, recession, and a global movement to address racial and economic justice. By Living Authentically and Learning Constantly, ATHENA Leaders know how to understand their values and continually develop themselves. Through Building Relationships and Fostering Collaboration, ATHENA Leaders embrace and encourage others. When Acting Courageously and Advocating Fiercely, ATHENA Leaders live out their convictions. By Giving Back and Celebrating, ATHENA Leaders contribute to their communities and memorialize shared experiences.
The ATHENA Award recognizes an individual, who demonstrates the qualities embodied in the ATHENA Leadership Model and who:
- Has achieved the highest level of professional excellence.
- Contributes time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
- Actively assists others, particularly women, in realizing their full leadership potential.
